Elisabeth Obituary

Elisabeth Katharine was born during an unprecedented heat wave on August 15 1988 at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital in Patchogue to parents Kevin and Jeanne MacDonald of Patchogue. She was the youngest of two girls born 18 months apart. Her sister Sarah gave her the lifelong nickname "Wizzer" because Sarah was unable to pronounce "Elisabeth" and called her "Wizzerbiffy."

Elisabeth was born with Autosomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease. This childhood onset disease effects the kidneys, liver and spleen. Cysts grow in the organs until they no longer function. She was diagnosed at age 18 months and doctors said she would not live past the age of 10. Elisabeth lived to 35. She was also predicted to have difficulties with growing but wound up to be 6 ft 1 defying odds again.

Elisabeth had a kidney transplant in 2007 which failed and began dialysis in 2009. She was listed for a liver and kidney transplant at Mt Sinai Hospital however time ran out

Elisabeth was a beautiful happy girl despite having many medical challenges. She loved little animals especially her cat Dolly who she adopted last year along with Dolly's sister Lolly from North Shore Animal League. She was very close with her mother and looked forward to their weekly beauty regimen of nails and lashes as a respite from dialysis and medical appointments. She loved going shopping for clothes and new gadgets. She loved drawing and was a wonderful artist hoping someday to be a tattooist. She loved traveling with her mother especially to Disney World and Universal Studios.

Elisabeth is survived and missed dearly by her loving mother Jeanne Themann MacDonald and stepfather Anthony Morea of Patchogue, father Kevin MacDonald of Center Moriches, sister Sarah MacDonald Gonzales of Framingham Massachusetts, niece and nephew Penelope and Christopher Gonzales of Framingham, uncles Jon Themann, Curt Haase and John Saric of Patchogue, Uncle and Aunt Joseph and Debi Themann of Medford, Cousin Joseph Themann of Middle Island, Aunt Jan Themann, Uncle Nate Tritto of Plantation Florida and cousin Elliott Tritto of Gainesville Florida.
